About This Retreat

One of the most rewarding and artistically nourishing experiences is the Artists' Retreat, offering artists their most valuable resource: TIME. Time to focus solely on art without the constraints of every day life. This is a true residency-style experience – immersion in your work, your artistic self, your creative community. Fran offers support by helping each artist to understand their work and their role as an artist. In this way, the work moves to another level. So often artist focus on the making and fail to reflect on the work to understand the way and the what for.

About This Retreat

Location

The Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach is our home for this retreat. An amazing campus nestled in lush Florida ecology with a large, killer studio. It is a gorgeous, inspirational post-modern style multi-arts facility just 100 yards from the river and 2 miles from the ocean. It is so lovely, you may not set foot outside the neighborhood. However, if you need a break, the beach is within short driving distance along with restaurants, galleries and shops.

Amenities

Three meals a day with Chef Tom and a room with private bath, microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator and desk is provided.

About This Critique Class

Open to beginners and seasoned artists. Most artists work in isolation without the advantage of receiving feedback on their work. Here is the opportunity to not only hear how your work is "seen and interrupted by the viewer", how to create feeling and power through your images, experiment with challenges, but also how to paint intuitively while staying positive and focused on your passion to paint, and to learn from the critiques of other artists' work.

There is time for 6participating artists to exhibit 2-3 works of art to be critiqued. Artists are asked to bring in “works in progress”.  All observing artists will listen to the critiques but cannot exhibitany works.   If you are unsure that youwant to participate on Friday, why not come to observe and see what it is like.

We will resume in the fall and meet once a month on the second Friday from 1:30 – 3:30 PM at the Artists' Workshop in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

The Artists' Workshop (AW) is located at 540 Barracuda Blvd, along the North Causeway, New Smyrna and next to the Marine Discovery Center. Park on the North side of the building and come into the West entrance.

Fees

Fees for critique classes are as follows:

• Participating Artists' Workshop Member-Artists: $20
• Participating Non-Artist's Workshop Member-Artists: $25
• Observers or non-participating artists: $15

About This Exhibition

Beau Wild's piece, It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" is a 48" x 48" acrylic on canvas. Beau also is exhibition two other works, one titled "Resounding Merriment" and "Celebration"

About This Exhibition

Beaux Arts of Central Florida is celebrating its 60 Anniversary with this exhibition at the Art League of Daytona Beach.

Beau's mixed media painting "This Could Be My Family" was awarded Third Place by judge Jennifer Coolidge. In her statement, she commented: "I was struck by the humanity of this work with outsider figure reaching out to insider figure with little hope of connection yet the longing for it. The words and letters even if one did not read them become interesting visual elements within the composition. The use of graphite and other drawing mediums are effective in patterns overlayed such as in the hair of the front figure again the veil feeling created over the figure looking out. The use of white creates an important sense of contrast which distinquished the work from a distant view which became more interesting as one walks toward it."

About This Installation

This permanent installation in the lobby of the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, Florida was installed in 2020 and features Beau Wild's vivid, six-paneled work, Wandering Connections.
